The labor-rich regions of CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion, CareerSource North Central Florida and CareerSource Florida Crown have teamed up to host an agricultural job fair on July 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at locations across the country. region.

The CareerSource CLM Career Fair is held at the World Equestrian Center at 1390 NW 80th Ave., Ocala. The CareerSource North Central Florida event will be held at the Alachua Agricultural and Equestrian Center at 23100 W. Newberry Road in Newberry and CareerSource Florida Crown will hold the career fair at the region’s Career Center at 25811 SE Highway 19 in the old City.

Every day in the nine-county region, there are more than 10,300 workers employed by 2,100 farms, ranches and agribusinesses. Together, the three regions raise nearly $ 600 million annually in field crops, forest and animal products.

According to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, in 2019, there were 47,400 farms and ranches statewide.

“The agribusiness is definitely growing, not only in our region, but also in neighboring regions,” said Cathy Galica, Director of Business Development for CareerSource CLM. “From blueberries to poultry and cattle to thoroughbreds (horses) and ponies, this is a deep-rooted industry with great promise for those seeking employment.”

The career fair takes place both in person and virtually, which, Galica said, gives applicants the ability to search for opportunities outside of their region and apply for jobs without having to travel to d ‘other regions.

To date, the following local businesses plan to participate: Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Katya Vineyards (Ocala) Scherer Quality Farms (Morriston), Williston Peanuts, Inc. (Williston), Woerner Farms (Bronson) and World Equestrian Center (Ocala).

Galica said that while the career fair is ideal for those with farm or ranching experience, “there are many career opportunities in the agribusiness that span a wide variety of occupations.”

“The WEC, for example, has dozens of openings for just about everything, including the director of human resources, assistant chefs, food and beverage supervisors, cashiers, bartenders, agents. security, line cooks, chief engineers, housekeepers, hosts and payroll managers, ”she said. . “And it barely scratches the surface.”
