MAYVILLE, NY :– Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel, Jr. recently announced his selection of Deborah Makowski as Chautauqua County’s new Human Resources Manager.
This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Chautauqua County Legislature. If approved at the July 27, 2022 legislative meeting, Makowski will take office on August 8, 2022 and serve as former director Jean Riley, who stepped down in early April.
Makowski most recently served as the executive director of human resources at Warren General Hospital. In this role, she was responsible for employee relations, benefits administration, collective bargaining, recruitment, orientation, training and development of over 650 unionized and non-unionized employees. She also previously worked as a Human Resources Business Partner II at Wells Enterprises, Inc.; a Director of Human Resources and Community Relations at Cockaigne Resort LLC. ; and a human resources manager at Matco Tools.
“Makowski has been a leading human resources professional for 23 years with proven success in employee relations, benefits, recruiting and training in the healthcare, manufacturing and hospitality industries,” said said Wendel. “Her skills will be a great asset to county government and I think she will be a great addition to our team.”

Makowski received his Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. She is also a Certified Human Resources Professional by the Society for Human Resources Management. She currently resides in Cherry Creek, NY
