HADLEY – A permanent human resources manager for Hadley will begin her term next month.

The Select Board recently appointed Jennifer Trovato to the vacancy following a recommendation from the Human Resources Manager Hiring Committee. The board’s decision was unanimous.

“Jennifer stood out; his personality, his fitness, his many years of HR experience,” City Administrator Carolyn Brennan told the board.

Brennan said this would be Trovato’s first time working in city government.

Trovato has 15 years of experience as a general manager and operations manager, in hiring and coaching, including the last eight years as general manager of Roberto’s restaurant in Northampton. She also holds an MBA from Bay Path University.

“I think my skills match the job description very well,” Trovato said.

Trovato will earn $68,000 working 37.5 hours a week.

The position was created in 2019 to deal with employee recruitment and training, classification, compensation and labor relations.

Hadley has been without a permanent human resources director since Edward O’Connor, the first person to hold the position from late 2019, left the position in 2021. Deborah Radway, a former director of human resources at Amherst, held a interim position. .

Brennan said the search committee reviewed resumes and five initial interviews were conducted, with three of those people brought back for final interviews. Trovato then received his unanimous approval.

Radway said she will work with Trovato to introduce her to the HR community and will also do mentorship and other guidance after her April 4 start date. Board member Joyce Chunglo said she would provide assistance to Trovato with planned union contract negotiations.
