Millwood Acquires Austin Pallet – Modern Materials Handling

By ·

Millwood, Inc. acquired its first location in Texas and its 34th location nationally. Millwood co-owners and partners Chip Trebilcock and Steve Miller completed the acquisition Aug. 8 when they and other operations and human resources managers visited Austin Pallet Company in Pflugerville, Texas, to meet management and team members currently transitioning to the Millwood family.

Millwood’s mission is that everyone who comes into contact with Millwood sees clearly the love of Christ in everything the company does, and this thinking is at the top of Millwood’s acquisition checklist, added the society.

“Austin Pallet is a perfect fit with our culture,” Millwood general manager Lionel Trebilcock said. “This is a priority for us when evaluating acquisitions.”

Millwood welcomed nearly 30 new team members to its family of more than 1,800 nationwide. Prior to the acquisition, Austin Pallet acted as co-packer for Millwood’s CORE Erosion Control product group, and will continue to do so. Millwood can now also supply a new region of the country with custom crates and new and recycled pallets, Millwood added.

“This acquisition allows us to expand our physical presence in a rapidly growing part of the country,” said Executive Director of Sales, Lee Evans III. “We are very pleased to add James and his team to the Millwood family and look forward to adding our resources to an already excellent operation.”

Austin Pallet opened in 2018 as a family business serving the greater Austin area. Updated signage and other branding will soon be installed at 1605 Century Street in Pflugerville, Texas to help communicate the new name: “Austin Pallet: A Millwood, Inc. Company.”

“My wife and I purchased Austin Pallet in the hopes of one day being able to take this step,” said James Scherer, Regional Operations Manager. “We are thrilled to be part of the Millwood family and look forward to helping Millwood grow in Texas and beyond.”

Since the acquisition, Millwood has hired an external sales manager in the Austin area who works directly with the Austin Pallet site to serve current and new customers. Millwood is also in the process of recruiting a customer support manager in Texas to work directly with the new external sales manager as well as a chaplain dedicated to team members at this new location.
