In an exclusive interview with Human Resources Online, Karen Lee, Managing Director – Southeast Asia, BIPO explains why SaaS security for businesses is essential amid the current pandemic.
From business restrictions due to motion control order (MCO) to the increase in remote working, organizations continue to face a myriad of challenges.
Globally, COVID-19 has led to an increased need for technological capabilities to connect stakeholders, observed Karen Lee, Managing Director – South East Asia, BIPO (photo above).
She shared, âMore than a year later, organizations in Malaysia are now more seriously considering adopting Software as a Service (SaaS) technologies to address issues resulting from the pandemic and in doing so automate and transform their business. â
Malaysia’s shifting mindset towards digital transformation
BIPO supports over 2,800 clients in over 100 countries and regions with a range of cloud-based HR and payroll solutions. Lee has worked with a diverse portfolio of companies in Malaysia, Singapore and South East Asia, where she has seen increased use of digital tools to support business and HR operations.
Lee added, âAs Malaysia moves towards digitalization and shifts to a hybrid workforce, large amounts of sensitive data are easily accessible on smart devices by a large number of users. This poses a risk to privacy and sensitive information such as phishing attacks and vulnerability to new malware. There is an urgent need for SaaS security tools in the new digital economy â.
When selecting a SaaS provider, Lee suggests taking into account the scalability of the solution and its flexibility to be integrated with other systems such as ERP, CRM, etc.
âIt is important to take into account the certifications and security policies of the SaaS provider. These should include ISO-27001 or SOC-1/2 information security management to ensure that strict audit controls are in place. “
BIPO’s integrated cloud-based human resources management system provides end-to-end HR solutions, from pre-onboarding to offboarding. It is ISO-27001 certified and securely hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Alibaba Cloud, both highly regarded for their compute, storage and content processing capabilities.
As organizations upgrade their technology and HR systems to allow employees to seamlessly connect to their devices, business leaders need to take advantage of secure SaaS technologies in the new digital economy, she said. concluded.
